Recently celebrating it’s 10th birthday, Hype is a student-led robotics team participating at the First Tech Challenge competition.
We are proud to be a part of Liceul Teoretic “Nicolae Balcescu”, from Cluj-Napoca, Romania 🇷🇴.
About Us

We are Romanian high school students at Liceul Teoretic “Nicolae Balcescu”, working together at Hype 21033/RO024 to further refine our skills.
For us, competing at FTC gives us an opportunity to learn and develop critical skills in engineering, programming, teamwork, and problem-solving, while inspiring creativity and innovation in real-world robotics challenges.

Our Team
Students from grades 9 through 12 are eligible to join, which means the team undergoes a complete turnover every four years. Each year, we aim to recruit as many new members as possible to both pass on our knowledge and benefit from fresh perspectives.

As this is my last year at HYPE, I have both seen the team struggle and succeed, seeing their evolution in real time, and it gives me confidence that the passion and determination they carry will only grow stronger. I am excited to see what this team accomplishes in the future.
Chis Ambrozie, Mentor
My name is Chis Ambrozie, a Physics professor at LTNB, and the club’s mentor. We are together as a team to find methods and solve challenges together with other teams, in order for us to find our greatest potential.

In 2024, we experimented with a new arm elevator made out of standard aluminium extrusion, which turned out to be extremely effective.
